Olamide As A Rapper vs Olamide As A Singer – Which Do You Like Most?

Hi Guys,
We can’t talk about versatility in Nigeria’s music industry without having to mention the name Olamide.
In fact, it is safe to say Olamide’s strength is in his ability to experiment with different sounds and still come up with excellent content..
He started off as Rapper, his official music debut “Eni Duro” was a monster hit cementing his claims to be the next kid on the block after Dagrin’s demise.
He went ahead to drop series of punchline laden tracks many of which made hits. Up till today, Olamide’s King Of Indigenous rap status has never been threatened. Who is even willing to dare?
Meanwhile, at a point in the music industry, music lovers seem to be tired of everyday punchline, the street wants to dance and groove. Of course, Olamidewas on his toes to take on the challenge and apparently, he was successful with it.
With tracks like, Bobo, Eleda Mi, Wo, Science Studentand others, Olamide’s afro-dance music skills has gone beyond the ordinary.
We are all beneficiaries of Olamide’s ridiculous versatility in Rap and Singing but the question here is, which aspect of Olamide’s music skills do you enjoy the most?

Olamide science students (official video)

Olamide releases visuals to counter ‘Science
Student’controversy

Olamide "Science Student" In an effort to change public opinion that Olamide’s recently-released single titled, “Science Student”, is unfit for public consumption, the YBNL boss has released visuals for the single to depict his true intentions. The song which was jointly produced by YBNL in-house producer, Young John and BBanks, ushered in a new trend called the “Shaku Shaku” dance/sound. Though the song was widely accepted by fans and music lovers, it also received hard criticisms for promoting the use of excessive alcohol, hard drugs, and narcotics. To clear the controversy that embraced the release, Olamide issued a statement to that effect. “Since the release of #Sciencestudent, the support has been massive. As you are all sharing, dancing, singing along to this relatable music of mine, I want you all to take some time to reflect on the subject, say no to drug abuse. Don’t abuse alcohol. Stop mixing what you don’t know about. Live responsibly and drink responsibly. Don’t aspire the ‘Highness State’ but a state of purpose fulfilment and passion discovery. Together let’s put an end to drug abuse and save as many lives as possible. The video will be out soon and I can’t wait for you all to see it. #SAYNOTODRUGABUSE #DRINK RESPONSIBLY #SCIENCESTUDENT” he said. The video which was directed by Unlimited LA further reiterated Olamide’s position on the message of the song. Mostly shot in what seemed to be a ‘crack house’, the video showed various scenes of activities that happen in places like that, with somewhat disturbing scenes of the effects of the use of illicit substances. In a bid to convey the message of the song even further, the director of the video was able to make it both educative and entertaining as the trending “Shaku Shaku” dance was infused in various scenes of the video. A scene of the video clearly had “Say no to drugs” encrypted on a wall. The highlight of the video was a transition from scenes of the crack house to an unknown destination where a well-crafted flash-mob choreography was displayed to further buttress the idea behind the visuals. Just recently, Olamide shared a follow up single titled “Omo Ologo” produced by S’bling” Watch the “Science Student” video below:

Singer, Olamide who signed new acts which includes; Lyta, Davolee and Limerick, to his YBNL record label, was quick enough to defend them after a troll came for them in a photo he shared. Why I Can’t Marry Rita Dominic – Jim Iyke

Nollywood bad boy, Jim Iyke has opened up on his relationship with Nigerian actress, Rita Dominic and the fact that they haven’t spoken directly for two years now. Nollywood bad boy actor, Jim Iyke and screen goddess, Rita Dominic have over the years been linked together on several occasions and the reason is not farfetched as the duo often played roles of lovers in movies back in the early 2000s. However, Jim Iyke has opened up on his relationship with Rita in an interview with Broadway TV. When asked why he didn’t get married to the actress, he said: “Rita and I met when I was just beginning to embrace fame, and the comforts that came with it. The laurels, the distraction, even the destruction. And Rita is not the kind of woman that hangs around a lot. We were very deep with each other. We still are great-friends though we don’t speak constantly. As a matter of fact, it may surprise you that we haven’t spoken to each other in over two years. But when we meet, we are cordial, and respectful. There is that deep rooted thing of a man or woman you shared something with”. I don’t think Rita at that time was looking at longevity, truthfully. Don’t forget, I was the kid with the crazy afro, ready to start a fight anywhere. My life was about having a good time and as many conquests as possible. So, who wants that kind of guy?” The ‘last flight to Abuja’ role interpreter further revealed that he has no intention of settling down with the award-winning actress, the reason being that they both work in the same industry and he wants a different experience in marriage. He also gave reasons for his last failed relationship. “I don’t think so, we come from the same circle, she knows too much of what I know and I think I know too much of what she knows. You need that opposite attraction to survive the kind of life I live now. I want to come in and hear about your day, I don’t want to repeat what I have done with you. I need to learn new things from you, I need you to teach me new tricks, and I need to, at least, pretend to be interested in what you are talking about in the evening. A dead giveaway is the fact that I do know what you are talking about, I can fathom and predict it and I can end it, I don’t want that kind of life. I want someone that is entirely different from my world, someone that can bring me to order. The amazing relationship I had before now didn’t work for special reasons and it is obviously because of that. I don’t want a drama queen, I just need a woman that will come to me with something different all the time, I don’t want a predictable life,” he quipped.
